CREATING PEACE OF MIND
it is time for everyone to chillax, yo, because today I am going to teach you how to get peace of mind in any circumstance using a seven-part technique.
I am someone who is neurotic at times—I am Jewish and it kind of comes with the package! I am not quite paranoid but certainly a big worrier and I think I really had my first worry episode when I was about five years old. I was staying up all night, stressed about a piece of reading we had to do for primary school. The next stress I remember was as a seven years old. This was about a harvest festival project we had to do. My teacher made me write down a whole page, “ I am not allowed to worry.” So you know I have spent most of my life learning this. I am going to compact all these years, the decades of learning so you can learn how to get peace of mind and get it now.
THE SEVEN PART PLAN
Here is a seven-part plan to help you find peace of mind in any situation.
THE TO DO LIST
Number one, write down your to-do lists. Chances are if you have various thoughts going around then you will not have organized this stuff. You have not actually got it out of your head. So just find a way of writing it down. You want to maybe organize it in terms of things you have to do in your computer, things you need to do for email, things you have to speak to people about or errands you need to do. Just like in Harry Potter when the guy takes the wand, the magician takes it and Dumbledore puts it into this container, you want to literally take everything out of your head so you can see it and so that it is tangible
Two, find a strategy that is specific and measurable for achieving all of these things. So this deals with all of the mind worries. For example, if you were concerned about organizing a reception or a business party, write down everything you need to do. Once again you are taking it out of your head, so you can put timelines on it and organize it.
This might sound like a lot of work but you have the choice. Do you actually want to do the work or do you just want to continue in a mindset which is lacking peace?
The purpose of this seven-part technique is to help you achieve absolute piece of mind.
The third part is to engage your body and begin moving it! You can get a lot of stored energy your stomach or your head. Just take a breath for a moment and think where is the energy getting stored in your body? You are an entire person, not just a head. Although we sometimes behave like we are a head and a pair of hands as we are typing away or checking emails on our phones.
So take a breath and connect. Where is the stress, the energy getting jammed within your body? So part three is go out and stretch, go out and move. Do what you need to do to get the energy flowing and get the circulation.
Number four is to meditate and really get your mind clear. This is linked to point number five. You can do this a couple of ways. One is to sit still and meditate. Just count your breaths or sit and look at a candle, a flower or just focus on a spot or go to a yoga class. All of these are valid forms of meditation.
Alternatively, you may want to go into nature, which I think is terrific. That is point number five and I really find this incredible important. You take yourself out, go on a hike. Even if you are in the middle of a city, go and find a small park. If you cannot find a park, just walk around and look at the trees and hug a tree. Do whatever you need to do. Just connect with a bigger life form with the universe, with nature. Again, you take the self out of your head and you really connect there and focus on getting this peace of mind by just continually calming yourself.
CUT OUT STIMULANTS
Point number six is food. Cut out any caffeine or sugar at least while you want to find you’re getting peace of mind, at least when you’re pursuing peace of mind. Anything which is going to be a stimulant, which is going to spike your insulin levels, which is going to get your brain moving extra fast, will get in the way of peace of mind. Even if you think “I need my coffee otherwise I’m going to fall asleep”, well maybe your body needs to sleep. Try and listen to your body and try and listen to what you truly need.
Point number seven is to go and have some fun. Do something which you enjoy. Too often we just get stuck in this rut. We become hamsters on a wheel, working it round and round and round. We see our bills coming in. We see all the emails coming in. But actually try and connect ???? and have some fun.
Too often we get stuck. More than anything else the bills have to be paid, but maybe not this absolute second. You may have to answer this email or respond to this Facebook post and we forget to stop and have fun. We b are on this treadmill like hamsters going round and round and round. But go out and have some fun! Here in Los Angeles it does not have to cost anything There is a great website RentFoodBroke.com. Whatever you have, whatever your resources are, you can be creative and enjoy yourself and this will lead you towards peace of mind.
So follow these seven steps. I’d love to hear how you get along.
