Welcome to the Miley Cyrus School of Business and PR Marketing. the Miley So what are the Miley Cyrus techniques? Well, here are a few ideas and just a bit of context if we haven’t met before and if this is your first visit to the channel, my name is Marcus, as you’ve probably figured out by now, and what I do is I help business people, entrepreneurs, I help people sharpen their creative edge so you can cut through the obstacles that are holding you back and carve out success in the front of you. So let’s look at some Miley Cyrus ideas.
THE MILEY CYRUS BUSINESS TECHNIQUES
No. 1: Do something bold and courageous. Miley did something very bold and courageous. It was just a couple of months before this video was actually recorded when she was on the TV awards and she did the dance and took her clothes off and twerked. We’d never heard about twerking before but she was twerking next to Robin Thicke and he was singing his songs and all that kind of stuff.
So what is something you can do that is bold and courageous in your business? Now this might be something where you’re holding yourself back so think of what is an area where you’re not doing something, where you are scared of leaning into in your business. It could be launching a blog, speaking in public, making a video, creating a new product, starting a new business, quitting your job and looking for a new one, doing something different. Do something bold and courageous. Think like Miley. What would Miley do? Again, think about that, something bold and courageous.
CREATE CONTRAST LIKE MILEY CYRUS
No 2 Create contrast with what when beforehand in your business. So Miss Cyrus beforehand she was Hannah Montana. She was a Disney girl. Now she is the twerker, the twerking girl who shakes her clothes off and does all that stuff and swings naked on a wrecking ball, which you may want to do. It may be very liberating. You may feel the wind through your beard and through your hair as you do that. That wasn’t meant to be a weird joke but really think about creating some contrast.
Marcus strongly recommends keeping your clothes on in business unless you’re in a business which involves taking them off, in which case I am not really the guy for you, as that is not the kind of business I support.
Where are some contrasts? Hannah Montana, twerking; what were you doing in your business before, what are you doing now. We recently re-launched Marcus Recommends, got the channel, created some contrast with what went before. I remember Madonna. You may remember Madonna, too. She is Miley Cyrus’ great grandmother. I think Britney Spears was the granddaughter.
They keep on going. it is beautiful, but Madonna keeps on changing her style. She has done it many, many, many, many times. I once saw Madonna in a synagogue in London and she was wearing a tracksuit – that was one style. But we remember the material girl and the conical stuff and all that jazz. So create some contrast.
WHAT DO YOUR CUSTOMERS WANT?
Lesson no. 3 know what your customers or tribe want and give it to them in a way that will not compromise you or break your integrity. Know what your customers want, what your tribe is thirsting for and find a way of giving it to them but really maintain your own integrity here.
So again, let’s think about Miss Cyrus, the dean, the honorary president of the Miley Cyrus School of Business PR Marketing and winning more clients. She knew what her customers want. They want to see her singing and dancing naked pretty much and swinging on a wrecking ball. Hey, it works for her and that was not a compromise of Miss Cyrus’ values.
EXAMPLES OF WHAT YOUR CUSTOMERS WANT
What do your customers want? I’ll give you an example. I know that the kind of people who I serve, I tend to work with entrepreneurs, people who are driven, people who are talented, people who are hitting up with some frustrations. They want some inspiration, they want to feel motivated, they want some strategy but they also want some love and they want some creativity.
Think of what your customers want. If you are a nutritionist, maybe they want some good food.
If you are a yoga teacher, maybe they want a good stretch.
If you are a plumber, maybe they need their pipes cleaned.
Think about it. So point No. 3 is to know what your customers want and give it to them, assuming it is within your value structure.
