BIBLICAL MASTERS PART 1
Today, I want to help you find ways to make more money and win more clients through learning some business mastery skills from the bible, specifically focusing on Abraham, also known as Avraham Avinu, Abraham the Patriarch and various other names.
Abraham literally means the “father of many” so I want to see how you can really think about becoming a great support for as many clients as possible or becoming a major support for a few clients if you are just working from one client to another.
If we look at a few of Abrahams’ qualities and we can see how that can play out in the business arena. I was in two minds initially about whether I really wanted to discuss this. Iit is almost like coming out of the closet to say that my inspiration has come from biblical ideas, but as they have been very powerful in my life I wanted to share a couple of these with you.
First of all, kindness. Now Kabbalistically, there is an idea of chesed which literally means that Abraham was just pouring with kindness. He truly, deeply cared about other people. If you have been in a situation where someone is trying to sell something to you or a business person is trying to help you but you can tell that they do not really care about you, tyou are just a number, they just want your money over in their account, then energetically, what do you feel? Chances are you feel pushed away. I know I do not like it when someone is trying to sell me something just because they want the sale..
However, when we are genuinely trying to help someone that is different. I think of one of my mentors at the moment when I found out about his program. It really came across that he genuinely cared. He had a deep kindness or chesed. this quality of Abraham. I was absolutely very happy to spend money, a lot more money than I would have usually spent and signed up with their program. That kindness continued throughout the program.
You see this with kindness with Abraham when he is sitting in the front of his tent and he is just giving himself a circumcision. Three guests come along, and he actually goes out to welcomes in these guests, tries to create some food for them, tries to make them feel as comfortable as possible and we see this overriding quality.
KNOWING WHEN TO STAND BACK
A second quality of Abraham is knowing when to back off, knowing when to create space and to avoid a potential conflict. We can see this when Abraham comes face to face with his nephew Lot and the discussion is becoming a little bit confrontational. The herdsmen or the shepherds are against one another.
Abraham basically backs off and tells Lot that he can take the choicest, the favored piece of land. “You choose which piece of the land you want to go. If you’re going to go left, I’ll go right. I’m not going to go into conflict with you”.So Abraham has made a choice by saying ”I’m not going to go into a conflict. I’m going to create space for the other person. I’m going to say focus on what is the bigger goal”.
STAY FOCUSED AND WIN THE WAR
Think of potential conflict with your employees, or even with potential customers, suppliers, others related to your business or even your spouse. If you are able to focus on what is the bigger vision and what you are trying to achieve, remember the old adage of knowing which battles to fight. Stay focused. You want to win the battle if you want to win the war, even if it is the war of love. We are here in LA. We can talk about the war of love. So know when to step back, when to create space, when to back off.
WHEN TO FOCUS AND FIGHT
There are many more teachings of Abraham in terms of how you can win more clients, how you can make more money with your business but the third one I am going to point out today is knowing when to fight and knowing when to go for it. Abraham does back off. He is Mister Kindness. He is super kind, but there is an opportunity to really go and fight for something when his nephew Lot, the same person he created the space for, gets kidnapped by the king.
At that point, Abraham puts together a little task force of his commandos. They go in, they get Lot back, they are victorious and they fight when they need to. So even though he is kind, he knows when to pick up the sword. He knows when to go for it. So this is really the yang to the previous yin in terms of knowing when to back off and when you need to focus and fight – that is when you absolutely have to go for something!
PUTTING THESE TEACHINGS INTO PRACTICE
To hone this down and keep this focused on your business, where do you need to be more kind? Where could you be more caring? Could it be towards customers? Where can you really care and feel love for them and support them in their growth?
Secondly, where do you need to back off? Where is there some conflict showing up in your business and where can you create some more space? Where do you need to take a step back?
Thirdly, when do you need to just go for it? When is there something where you can be absolutely laser-focused? This is what I want to achieve. This is something which is not currently right and you need to go for it 100%. Gather your crack team and just go for it!
